Kassym-Jomart Tokayev receives Qatari delegation at Akorda
The Head of State has met with a delegation of financial circles of Qatar headed by Governor and Chairman of the Qatar Central Bank Sheikh Abdullah Al-Thani. Cooperation in the finance, investments and within the Astana International Financial Centre was discussed during the meeting, the Akorda press service informs.
The President of Kazakhstan noted that the visit of Qatar delegation should give a special impetus to the development of mutual cooperation.
“In June early this year, I had a meeting with His Highness, Emir of Qatar in Dushanbe, and we agreed that we need to take concrete and positive steps to build a very solid bridge between the both states. I invited him to come to our capital to pay an official visit. But at the same time, we need something substantial. So I believe that your visit in this respect, of course, will be extremely important,” - Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
Governor and Chairman of the Qatar Central Bank Sheikh Abdullah Al-Thani on behalf of his country's leadership conveyed greetings to the President, Government and people of Kazakhstan.
"As you know, relations between the two countries are very strong. We are here today to support that. We have a long relationship with our colleagues in financial centre here. We are working together to develop the relationship in banking, financial and investment areas. Yesterday, we agreed that Qatar’s one of the biggest bank to open a subsidiaries at the Astana International Financial Centre," the Qatari financier said.
He also expressed hope that the prompt launch of direct flights between the two countries will facilitate trade, economic and investment cooperation.
The Qatari delegation also included the Chairman of the Qatari Stock Exchange Rashid Ali Al-Mansoori, Chairman of the Masraf Al Rayan the banking group Hussain Ali al-Abdulla, Chief Executive Officer of the Qatar International Islamic Bank Abdul Basit Al-Shaibei, acting Chairman of the Qatar National Bank Abdulla Al-Khalifa, Chief Executive Officer of the Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority Michael Ryan, Member of the Board of the Commercial Bank of Qatar banking group Mohamad Ismail Mandani Al Emadi and Ambassador of Qatar to Kazakhstan, Abdulaziz bin Sultan Al Rumaihi.
