Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Aruzhan Sain
Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has received Commissioner for Children's Rights Aruzhan Sain, Strategy2050.kz refers to Akorda’s press service.
During the meeting, they discussed relevant issues of children's health and social protection, as well as countering violence.
Separately, Aruzhan Sain addressed the problem of newborn children suffering from retinopathy of prematurity, which leads to loss of vision. On average, about 20 thousand premature babies are born in the country, of which 4 thousand are with extremely low body weight. According to her, to solve this problem, it is necessary to organize effective ophthalmological care on the basis of perinatal centers and maternity hospitals in the regions of the country, high-quality communication with local executive bodies, staffing with diagnostic equipment, as well as training and professional development of medical specialists.
Aruzhan Sain also spoke about the importance of the early implementation in Kazakhstan of an international classification of the functionality of human capabilities, which will help to systematically solve the problems of children with cerebral palsy, as well as hearing, vision and other ailments.
Emphasizing the crucial importance of protecting the rights and health of children, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that he would always keep this issue under special control.
