Head of Kazakhstan's diplomatic mission to Indonesia accredited as Ambassador to ASEAN

Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Indonesia Daniyar Sarekenov handed Secretary-General of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Lim Jock Hoi a letter from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan on accreditation as the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to ASEAN, Strategy2050.kz reports.

After the presentation ceremony, the Kazakh diplomat noted the central role of the Association in promoting multilateral cooperation and ensuring regional integration in Southeast Asia.

The ambassador emphasized that Kazakhstan makes a significant contribution to the formation and implementation of the global and regional agenda in the sphere of security and sustainable development. Kazakhstan is one of the leaders in nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, the author of a number of important international initiatives, such as the Code of Conduct towards Achieving a World Free of Terrorism, Nuclear-Weapons-Free World Declaration, etc.

In this regard, Mr. Sarekenov noted the great potential for the development of cooperation between Kazakhstan and ASEAN and expressed readiness to strengthen cooperation with the Association.

In turn, the Secretary-General congratulated the Kazakh diplomat on accreditation as the Ambassador to ASEAN and expressed interest in developing cooperation with the largest economy and state in Central Asia both in the bilateral format and in the framework of memoranda of cooperation between the SCO-ASEAN and the EAEU-ASEAN.

In conclusion, the parties discussed the prospects for cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Association, agreed to study and identify the most potential cooperation areas.
