First freight long train arrived in Kazakhstan from China
A train consists of 70 conventional wagons, the press service of KTZ-Freight Transportation JSC reports.
The experimental freight long train was first sent from the Khorgos station (China) to the Altynkol station (Kazakhstan).
The formation of long trains allows to improve the performance of the weight of the train, the performance of the locomotive, the speed of delivery of goods. This technology will also be implemented in the opposite direction.
The train pass and the volume of traffic increase between the border stations Altynkol and Khorgos. For the 9 months of 2019, over 390 thousand tons were transported through this border crossing from Kazakhstan to China, which is 54% more than the same period in 2018. In the opposite direction - 2.5 million tons, an increase of 56%.
The number of container trains is increasing annually. For 9 months of the current year, 1076 trains were received and processed, which is 48% higher than the same period last year. Container trains go through the Altynkol station to Uzbekistan, Iran, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and European countries.
