Film ‘Baluan Sholak’ to be screened at International Film Festival of India
The film "Baluan Sholak" directed by Nurgeldi Sadygulov features in the programme "World Panorama" at the 50th Indian International Film Festival that takes place in the State of Goa on 20-28 November 2019. The film was made by the Kazakhfilm film studio following the order of the Kazakh Ministry of Culture and Sports, Kazakhfilm’s press service informs.
The historical film depicts the difficult fate of a legendary Kazakh wrestler, singer and composer Baluan Sholak. The film came out in the spring of this year in Kazakhstan.
The Indian Goa International Film Festival was established in 1952 with the support of the Government of India under the patronage of Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, with the aim of provide a single platform for films from around the world and conveying the high art of cinema to the audience. It is the most prestigious film festival in India and the oldest international festival in Asia.
Over the years, such legendary figures as Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Shekhar Kapoor and many others have become guests of the Indian International Film Festival.
As part of this cultural event, at various times, such world-famous movies as “The Life of Pi” by Ang Lee and “The Long Walk to Freedom” by Justin Chadwick were screened.
This year the festival celebrates its 50th anniversary, featuring an interesting programme and star guests from around the world. Isabelle Huppert, French actress and the owner of the Golden Globe, will be an honored guest of the event, where she will receive an honorary award for contributing to the art of cinema.
