East Kazakhstan rgn to export soybeans and corn to China
Soy and corn production is of strategic importance for the region. Governor Danial Akhmetov announced that by 2024 the crop acres will grow 4.2 times, the gross harvest - 6.5 times, the export of products - 10 times, from 1.5 to 15 thousand tons, Strategy2050.kz report referring to the Info Centre of East Kazakhstan region.
“In general, the structure of the agricultural sector is quite good. But it’s necessary to take a different direction. There are a lot of consumers from China next to us. This friendly state opens the door for us. We must work export-oriented. China brings 3 million tons of corn from the ocean, buys soybeans. But we can cooperate with them in these areas. It is also necessary to further develop the dairy sector. Previously, in the Middle Kingdom people did not know about child nutrition, they did not consume milk at home. But now the consumption of these products is growing. Therefore, I charge to develop a program for the development of agribusiness in an export-oriented environment within a month”, Danial Akhmetov said, noting the active development of the agricultural sector in the direction of export orientation.
He also recalled that in 2019, subsidies totaling 31 billion tenge were aimed at supporting and developing agriculture. Investments in the framework of the program for the development of dairy farming from 2015 to 2019 made it possible to increase the purchase of milk from the population by 17 times in monetary terms, from 3.7 thousand tons to 48.4 thousand tons. Over 5 years, the capacity utilization of processing enterprises increased from 29 to 75%.
It is noteworthy that now East Kazakhstan region takes the 1st place in the country in the production of milk, honey, antlers, sunflower seeds, and the 2nd place in the production of meat.
