E Kazakhstan reports decrease in emitting pollutants by 10 tones over 6 years
The measures taken to protect atmospheric air made it possible to achieve the capture and neutralization of emissions from stationary sources at the level of 92.3%, said Murat Kussainov, head of the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Management at a press conference in the Regional Communications Service, Strategy2050.kz with reference to the InfoCentre reports.
However, Kazhydromet, Kazakhstan’s hydrometeorological service, refers to the state of atmospheric air in Ust-Kamenogorsk by the end of 2019 as a high level of pollution. The air condition is exacerbated by adverse weather conditions with no wind over a significant period of time. So, 68 days saw such conditions in 2019 (in 63 days in 2018).

“As for gross pollutant emissions, there has been a downward trend. In the region, pollutant emissions have declined by 10 thousand tons over the past 6 years. Emissions in Ust-Kamenogorsk fell by 7 thousand tons”, Murat Kussainov said.
Last year saw environmental measures being taken, including those aimed at protecting atmospheric air.
In line with the First President’s instructions, voiced in the address, environmental monitoring systems in order to track concentration levels of 6 elements of chemicals at 9 Kazhydromet posts were brought into operation. The population was presented with conditions for unhindered online access to environmental information.
