24 December, 2019 17:51

Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Saparkhan Omarov held a meeting with Dutch investors to consider the issues of construction of a large plant for the production of French fries in Kazakhstan.

During the meeting with finance director of multinational Farm Frites Beheer B.V. Joseph Leonardus Theodorus, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Kazakh Invest JSC and K-Agro Holding LLP, the sides discussed organizational issues of the construction of a factory for 400 workplaces in Zhambyl region.

According to the information voiced at the meeting, the project “Construction of an export-oriented factory for the production of French fries”, worth $ 145 million, will soon be launched. At the moment, it remains to resolve some issues, in particular, to maintain current measures of state support for investment projects, as well as the stable provision of the plant with raw materials. The investors believe that the best platform for growing potatoes in large volumes may be Shu district of Zhambyl region.

It is worth noting that the project is financed from TNС's own funds, as well as through loans from DBK and the Agrarian Credit Corporation.

According to previously defined conditions, the plant with a capacity of 70 thousand tons of French fries will begin to produce products in 2021.
