Dangerous fruits from Iran and Russia turned away - Ministry of Agriculture
The Ministry of Agriculture's state inspectorates for plant quarantine prevented 26 attempts to smuggle 560 tons of plant products of high phytosanitary risk from Russia and Iran, Strategy2050.kz reports.
54 tons of carrots, 10 tons of cabbage, 40 tons of potatoes and beets, 20 tons of wheat, 19.5 tons of fruits, as well as flowers in the amount of almost 2 thousand units were tried to be imported from Russia into Kazakhstan without a phytosanitary certificate.
174 tons of apples and 249 tons of dried fruits were brought from Iran to the Kazakhstan’s market without a phytosanitary certificate.
In accordance with the requirement of legislation in the sphere of plant quarantine, the import of these products into the territory of Kazakhstan was prohibited, and those responsible were brought to administrative responsibility under the Article 400 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Kazakhstan.
It should be added that earlier the state inspectors of the Ministry of Agriculture did not allow mangoes from the Russian Federation and almonds from the USA to Kazakhstan.
In particular, they also tried to import from Russia 2 tons of sesame seeds, more than 20 tons of walnuts, dates and dried mangoes, 39 tons of potatoes, almost 67 tons of sunflower and 58.5 cubic meters of lumber.
In addition, 2.3 thousand tons of barley were transported with an invalid phytosanitary certificate.
Without a phytosanitary certificate confirming the phytosanitary safety of the cargo, 23.4 tons of coffee beans from Vietnam and 86.6 tons of almonds from the USA arrived on the state border of the republic.
The import of these products into the territory of Kazakhstan was banned, and the perpetrators brought to administrative responsibility.
In the same period, due to the lack of markings on the packaging, quarantine state inspectors banned the import from Uzbekistan of more than 23 tons of fruits, including 6 tons of pomegranates, and 30 tons of carrots.
