Over 8 million Covid-19-related cases in USA

The United States remains one of the world anti-leaders in the number of cases and deaths from the coronavirus infection. This weekend, the country has reached the health-critical line of 8 million infected people and almost 220 thousand deaths.

Thеre is nеarly no placе in Amеrica wherе Covid-19 case counts are trеnding in the right dirеction as thе country hеads into what hеalth experts say will bе the most challеnging months of the pandеmic.

Only Missouri and Vеrmont rеcorded a more than 10% improvеment in the avеrage numbеr of rеported cases ovеr the past week. Cases in Connеcticut and Florida, on the other hand, increasеd by 50% or more.

Twenty-seven states saw spikes between 10% and 50%: Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

Despite the anti-records, US President Donald Trump warned that he was not going to reintroduce restrictive measures, in particular, there would be no border closures.

Turkey has a new record for the number of cases

Turkey has a new record for the number of new cases - 1,815 patients. The current figure is the highest since May 8.

“Today, 1,815 new cases of Covid-19 have been identified, total infected - 347,493. 72 patients have died, total deaths - 9,296. Today, 1,504 patients have been cured, in total - 304,003”, the health ministry reported.

In early September, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said that the coronavirus pandemic in Turkey had reached its second wave. The country has repeatedly recorded the highest rates of new cases of coronavirus per day and deaths from it in four months.

It should be noted that standing on public transport in Turkey was prohibited due to the coronavirus.

Brazil extends entry restrictions for foreigners

In Brazil, 10 982 new cases of the coronavirus infection were detected over the past 24 hours. The total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in the country increased to 5,235,344.

During the day, 230 patients with coronavirus died in the country. In total, during the pandemic in Brazil, 153,905 deaths were recorded among Covid-19 cases. At the same time, 4,650,030 people have recovered from the coronavirus.

In early October, the Brazilian government has extended the restrictions on the entry of foreigners into the state by another 30 days.

New imported cases of Covid-19 in China

According to the State Committee on Health of the People's Republic of China, in China, 13 active and 33 asymptomatic carriers of the coronavirus infection were detected per day.

New imported cases have been reported in Shanghai, Guangdong, Tianjin, Shaanxi and Shanxi.

There are currently 236 confirmed cases of coronavirus in China, including one severe. Another 7851 people remain under medical supervision.

In total, during the pandemic in China, 85,685 cases of COVID-19 were detected.

Residents of Switzerland must wear face masks everywhere

From October 19 Switzerland has introduced the mandatory wearing of masks in all public places, including public transport stops.

“From now on, wearing a mask is mandatory in all closed places accessible to the public throughout the country, including at train stations and airports. We have unified the rules for holding private events and introduced restrictions on the number of participants in spontaneous gatherings in public places”, President Simonetta Sommaruga said.

From October 19, spontaneous gatherings of more than 15 people will be prohibited in all public places, including in parks and on the road.
