Scientists from the Institute for Biomedical Sciences at Georgia State University published an article, saying that they had found a “weak spot” in a number of coronaviruses. The experts suggested that SARS-CoV-1, SARS-CoV-2 and MERS-CoV coronaviruses may have the same weaknesses, which makes it possible to create drug treatments that can defeat them.

Tom70, a mitochondrial chaperone protein, was called the “weak point” of the coronaviruses. According to the scientists, it helps these viruses, but its link with the coronavirus gene Orf9b can be used as a drug target for antiviral drugs.
