Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke about cooperation with the United States of America in an interview with Russian Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper, Strategy2050.kz reports.
“The construction of the US army base in Kazakhstan is not discussed and is not on the agenda. At the same time, cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United States is successfully developing in such strategic areas as energy, investment, technology”, the President said.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that Kazakhstan is constantly in contact with the United States on disarmament and non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.
“We also worked in the sphere of biological safety at the base of the former anti-plague institute in Almaty, but now, due to the expiration of the contract, the Americans left the reference laboratory, only Kazakhstani specialists work there at the expense of our budget. Given the relevance of research in this area, we are ready for the most transparent cooperation with Russian specialists”, Tokayev said.
