Budapest celebrated Abai’s 175th anniversary
The Embassy of Kazakhstan in Budapest in the framework of celebration of the 175th anniversary of the Kazakh poet Abai Qunanbaiuly with the participation of the delegation of the National Academic Library of Kazakhstan held on 29 January 2020 a round table, where the book - illustrative exhibition "Recognized by the world Abai" and a photo exhibition "The World of Abai" were presented, Strategy2050.kz informs with reference to the Kazakh foreign ministry.
The event, which was attended by representatives of the creative intelligentsias, socio-political, scientific and cultural circles of Hungary and Kazakhstan, Abai studiers headed by Chairman of the Union of writers of Kazakhstan Ulykbek Yesdaulet, the Kazakh diaspora, as well as Hungarian students studying the Kazakh language, culture and traditions, was held in the building of the representative Office of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States.
The Mr Ambassador noted in his welcome speech that Kazakhstan and Hungary are developing not only political and economic relations, but also actively promoting cultural and humanitarian cooperation, in particular there is a monument devoted to Abai in Budapest.
Advisor of Prime Minister of Hungary, who spoke on behalf of the Hungarian side, President of the Hungarian Pen Club G.Szőcs noted the deep philosophical meaning of Abai's works and his contribution to the world cultural heritage. He also highly appreciated the development of bilateral cultural and humanitarian relations between Kazakhstan and Hungary. In addition, during the event, there was a presentation of the second edition of M. Auezov's book "the Way of Abai" in Hungarian.
After the event, a ceremony of laying flowers at the monument of Abai Qunanbaiuly was held in the Central Park of Budapest on Astana Street, during which representatives of the Kazakh Diaspora, as well as Kazakh and Hungarian students performed poems and songs, as well as words of edification of the great poet.
