Baiterek Holding adopts experience of Russia’s Project Finance Factory
Chief Executive Officer at Baiterek National Managing Holding Aidar Arifkhanov and heads of the Holding’s subsidiaries paid a working visit to Moscow, where they met with top managers of Russian state financial institutions, the Holding’s press service informs.
The delegation included CEOs of Development Bank of Kazakhstan JSC Abay Sarkulov, KazakhExport JSC - Ruslan Iskakov, Kazyna Capital Management JSC Ainur Kuatova, Damu JSC Gaukhar Buribayeva, Kazakhstan Project Preparation Fund LLP Adil Utembayev, Development Bank of Kazakhstan-Leasing JSC Nurlan Baybazarov.
At the head office of the VEB.RF State Corporation, the Holding’s leadership was presented the capabilities of the business support tool - the Project Finance Factory (PFF).
PFF is a mechanism for project financing of investment projects in priority sectors of the economy. Several Russian banks and the VEB.RF State Corporation are creditors at once. They provide a borrower with the so-called “syndicated”, that is, a joint loan, the value of which, as a rule, is much higher than that which can be allocated by one bank. Projects worth from 3 billion rubles and a payback period of which is up to 20 years can apply for soft loans. An applicant must invest at least 20% of the project cost himself.
In turn, Aidar Arifkhanov expressed his gratitude for the review of the PFF and his acquaintance with the participants in this program.
“Close and mutually beneficial cooperation with you will allow us to effectively implement key tasks in the field of attracting investments and financing projects”, the Chief Executive Officer of Baiterek Holding said, addressing Chairman of VEB.RF Igor Shuvalov.
In turn, Aidar Arifkhanov told his Russian colleagues about the activities of the Baiterek Holding, main strategic areas of which are support for large businesses, development of small and medium-sized businesses, increase in export potential, ensuring financial affordability of housing, as well as developing an innovative ecosystem and technological entrepreneurship.
In addition, Aydar Arifkhanov met with General Director - Chairman of the Board of the Federal Corporation for the Development of Small and Medium Enterprises JSC (SME Corporation) Aleksandr Braverman, as well as with Director of the Industrial Development Fund Roman Petrutsey.
It should be noted that the subsidiary of SME Corporation, “SME Bank” JSC, in the framework of the XVI Forum of inter-regional cooperation of Kazakhstan and Russia in Omsk, signed an agreement with the Damu Fund. Thanks to the agreements reached, the parties intend to cooperate in the implementation of measures to support entrepreneurs, including financial and guarantee, information and marketing support and the exchange of experience.
The Industrial Development Fund was founded to modernize Russia’s industry and offers preferential terms for co-financing projects aimed at developing new high-tech products, import substitution, export, leasing of production equipment and so on.
In addition, the heads of Baiterek Holding and subsidiaries took part in the Gaidar Forum, the annual international scientific and practical conference in Russia in the field of economics, which has been held since 2010. According to the organizers, the Gaidar Forum is often called the “Russian Davos” in the media, given the qualitative composition of the participants and the status of experts. This year, the participants discussed issues such as cooperation between the state and business in the digital race, if there is a place for small and medium-sized businesses in the procurement world, financial control to implement national goals.
