Almost KZT8 bn of tax debts paid in Kazakhstan under tax amnesty
As of October 10, 2019, fines in the amount of 1.64 billion tenge were written off from 334,127 individuals who, since the beginning of this year, paid the principal debt in the amount of 7.9 billion tenge, Strategy2050.kz reports with reference to the State Revenue Committee’s press service.
For the period from October 3 to October 10, fines in the amount of 74.8 million tenge were written off from 21,275 individuals.
The largest number of individuals who paid off tax debts - 65 042 – are Almaty residents. They are followed by residents from Aktobe region - 34,684 people. Also, 28 975 people in Kostanay region paid tax debts.
For the amounts paid Almaty leads as well - the repaid principal amount at the moment is 4 billion 440 million tenge. It should be noted that at the time of January 1, 2019, the debt in Almaty amounted to 5.5 billion tenge.
A leader in the accumulated tax amount in the weekly rating was a resident of Almaty. So, having repaid the main debt for transport tax in the amount of 1 862 999 tenge, a fine was written off, 1.5 times exceeding the main debt (2 745 000 tenge).
Residents of Nur-Sultan paid a total of 483.9 million tenge of taxes. In Kostanay region the debt in the amount of 459.8 million tenge was repaid.

It should be pointed out that the Law of Kazakhstan “On the enactment of the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On taxes and other obligatory payments to the budget” (Tax Code) was amended on July 3, 2019, allowing individuals to apply tax amnesty. These amendments have been made on July 16, 2019.
Amnesty covers about 1.4 million people who, subject to payment of the principal debt in the amount of 13.9 billion tenge, will be written off penalties in the amount of 6.3 billion tenge.
