Agreements reached during Head of State’s visit to Germany discussed in Kazakh Foreign Ministry
Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Margulan Baimukhan held talks with Coordinator of the German Government for cooperation with Russia, Central Asia and the Eastern Partnership countries, German Bundestag member Dirk Wiese on 13 January 2020, Strategy2050.kz reports with reference to the Kazakh foreign ministry.
The discussion focused on the implementation of the agreements reached during the 5 December 2019 meeting of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, as well as the prospects for cooperation at the interregional level. Mutual readiness in enhancing trade and investment cooperation between Kazakhstan and Germany was emphasized.
The Kazakh deputy foreign minister noted that the first European visit of the Head of State allowed for the commercial agreements worth $2.4 billion. The Kazakh diplomat suggested that the German side support the visa regime facilitation with respect to Kazakhstan at the level of EU states in a bid to intensify bilateral cooperation in economic, educational and cultural spheres.
In his turn, Dirk Wiese informed that the official visit of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, showed the mutual interest of the parties in deepening the Kazakh-German partnership.
“We support and are ready to assist in the implementation of the current reforms in Kazakhstan,” the German diplomat said.
Another issue discussed was the humanitarian aspect of bilateral relations. The parties noted that Kazakh-German cooperation has a special dimension in the face of the large German diaspora in Kazakhstan and the large community of former Kazakh Germans in Germany, which have become a kind of "bridge of friendship" between the countries. The two governments actively work on creating the most favourable conditions for their citizens.
The parties agreed on maintaining the current dynamics of contacts in order to further develop multifaceted cooperation.
