Afghanistan veterans awarded in Moscow
The Kazakh Embassy in Russia hosted the solemn presentation of the “For Courage” and “For Military Merit” awards to Kazakhstani veterans of the war in Afghanistan, received from the archive of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and transferred to the embassy by the state awards department of the Russian President’s Administration, Strategy2050.kz reports.
“Any war in the history of mankind is a great tragedy. These are irretrievable losses, but at the same time it must be understood that in every war there is a place for heroism, courage, and a feat. Today is the day when it can rightfully be said that the award found its heroes”, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Russia Imangali Tasmagambetov said welcoming the participants of the event.
Bauyrzhan Mukhametzharov received his father’s award, who did not have time to live to this day.
“Through the efforts of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Russia, together with the Union of Afghanistan Veterans, we received the long-awaited awards. A lot of collaboration was done. This medal will now be a relic for our family. I don’t remember my father, but he was always an example for me. I am very proud of him”, Bauyrzhan shared his emotions.
The award ceremony was attended by Lieutenant General Ruslan Aushev, Hero of the Soviet Union, First President of Ingushetia. He has been working hard for many years so that the truth about the Afghan war is not forgotten, as well as the names of its participants.
The ceremony was also attended by Mazhilis deputy of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Bakhytbek Smagul, Chairman of the Union of Afghanistan Veterans in Kazakhstan Utegenov Sharipbay, as well as veterans of the war in Afghanistan. During the event, Kazakhstan veterans laid flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, visited the Victory Museum and met with their friends from the regiment.
Aleksandr Kashin, Berikbol Kulov, Koshgeldy Omerov, Talgat Sakhov, Zhumakhan Shongarayev, Alim Zhumatayev, Bauyrzhan Mukhametzharov received their well-deserved awards.
