Abai and al-Farabi’ heritage presented in Madrid
In the lead-up to the upcoming celebration of the big anniversary dates in Kazakhstan in 2020 - the 175th anniversary of Abai Qunanbaiuly, the 1150th anniversary of al-Farabi and the 750th anniversary of the Golden Horde – Spain’s Kazakhstan Embassy held a round table, the participants of which were informed about the creative heritage of the great thinker and enlightener Abai Qunanbaiuly and the outstanding “teacher of the East” al-Farabi, as well as about the key facts of the Golden Horde era, which, like the Great Silk Road and Eurasianism, is an important link in the cultural code of the Kazakhs, the Kazakh foreign ministry informs.
The event was attended by Director General of España Global Joaquín de Arístegui, Deputy General Director for Asia-Pacific and Southeast Asia R. Loza, Director of the House of Asia Madrid C. Diez, the Ambassadors of India, Republic of Korea, Australia , Turkey, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Malaysia, Bangladesh, New Zealand, Afghanistan, temporary charge d'affaires and advisers-envoys of China, Japan, Indonesia, Iran, Thailand and others, as well as public figures of Spain and media representatives.
In his welcoming speech Kazakh Ambassador to Spain Konstantin Zhigalov stressed that the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, signed the relevant decrees on the celebration in 2020 of the anniversaries that are significant for the entire Eurasian space.
At the end of the round table, guests were presented with the information and image materials, including Abai's “Words of Edification” in Spanish.
