Kazakhstan Nautical Academy specialists to be trained under international standards
Compliance with the requirements contained in the Convention would allow Kazakhstan’s entering the International Maritime Organization’s “white list”, which, in turn, would enable Kazakhstan’s certificates acknowledgement in all foreign ports.
The document’s basic provisions include fixing the requirements for evaluation of academic institutions and maritime training centers as to the training programs, simulator-based training, providing the students with navigation practices, and also of teachers’ and trainers’ qualification and competence. Evaluation will ensure control over the procedure for training the seafarers under international quality standards system.
As is known, in 2012, on the basis of Kazakh-British Technical University, the Kazakhstan Nautical Academy was established, where currently 41 students are being trained, majoring in “Navigation” and “Marine Engineering”. The first specialists will finish learning in 2016. Academy invited teachers from a leading Dutch school.
At the moment, the draft law is being considered by Majilis of Parliament of Kazakhstan.
