Kazakhstan receives official recognition of EXPO 2017 in Paris

The Kazakh delegation took part in the 155th General Assembly of the Bureau International d'Exposition (BIE) within the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Yerlan Idrissov to France. Kazakhstan received the official recognition of the International Specialized Exhibition EXPO-2017 Astana. In this regard President of France Ferdinand Nagi and Secretary General of the Bureau of International Exhibitions Vicente Gonzalez Loscertales presented BIE flag to Yerlan Idrissov.

"Astana and Paris have reached a high level of political understanding based on the Treaty of strategic partnership signed back in 2008," Minister Idrissov said.

Kazakhstani diplomat thanked leaders of BIE for supporting Astana's bid to host the EXPO-2017 having noted the Kazakh side highly appreciates all the recommendations of the Bureau, given to our country, the official website of the MFA of Kazakhstan reported.

"I am convinced  the holding of the Expo in Astana will become a platform for scientific, technical, and political and cultural cooperation between our countries," he added. Noting that the Head of State pays special attention to the preparation for the exhibition, Mr. Idrisov read a welcome address from the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.

"For the first time the exhibition will be held  in the CIS and will be a platform for discussion and presentation of innovations in the world of energy,"  the address of the Kazakh Leader reads. "Undoubtedly,  Astana EXPO aims to make a significant contribution to the development and use of alternative energy sources, will provide an opportunity to present the world's best technology and will help to promote energy-efficient programs. Together we combine the efforts of the entire international community to find new solutions on the way to creating a more environmentally friendly and safe surrounding world."
