Kazakhstan and Lithuania sign cooperation treaty in health sector
Leukemia treatment and spinal marrow transplant for Kazakhstan’s children suffering from cancer will now be available in Lithuania. Today, the Health Ministers of Kazakhstan and Lithuania have signed a cooperation treaty during one of the panel sessions of the Astana Economic Forum. Supposedly a special care unit will be opened for the patients from the countries of Central Asia.
The Minister of Health pointed out that currently about 200 Kazakh students study at Lithuanian universities and he hopes that their number will increase. Also the two Ministers of Health as well as the Ministers of Industry and New Technologies signed a memorandum of understanding with major pharmaceutical company Pfizer as part of the Forum. They plan to develop health infrastructure and conduct clinical studies together. Other documents signed with the “TaskForceHealthCare” Dutch consortium and Polish pharmaceutical company “Polpharma” includes the cooperation of research laboratories and a programme for the professional training of medical personnel.
