Sochi hosts Council meeting on environmental protection under EurAsEC
The meeting was attended by representatives of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan, according to the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources.
Members of the Council approved the draft agreement on cooperation of EurAsEC member states in the field of environmental protection. The draft Agreement provides the creation of EurAsEC coordination technical center to protect atmospheric air - Eurasian Research Institute of Atmospheric Air Protection. The parties will establish an Expert Working Group on Air Protection to implement this initiative.
The Institute will develop proposals for the harmonization of legislation in the field of air protection in the region, engage in the creation of "road maps" accession to international agreements in the field of air protection, maintenance of electronic databases on emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere. In addition, the center will contribute to the development of national systems for monitoring air pollution, advanced training of specialists in the field of air.
It should be noted that the specialists of the Expert Working Group will prepare order of introduction of methods for calculating the quantities of emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere, the maintenance of appropriate registers on the EurAsEc territory.
