Kazakhstan will be among top 30 world’s developed countries by 2050: UN special adviser

Kazakhstan will be able to enter top 30 developed countries of the world by 2050, the official website of Kazakhstan Strategy 2050 reports.

"Kazakhstan will not only reach, but exceed all targets set in the framework of sustainable development by 2030. Kazakhstan will be one of 30 developed and interesting countries in the world by 2050," Serge Martin, Special Adviser to the United Nations Foundation, Sustainable energy for all initiative, said.

According to Martin, "an important milestone in this process" is the forthcoming international exhibition EXPO 2017 which Kazakhstan will host.

"EXPO-2017 is an opportunity that is available once in a life. This may be the most important milestone on the path to sustainable development. The theme "Energy of the Future" is good enough to gain worldwide recognition of Astana as the capital of the Eurasian sustainable energy ," the expert added.

In addition, he said, "this issue (“Energy of the Future "-Agency’s note) needs to be developed further, and continued after 2017. "Energy of the future" will become a Kazakhstan brand in the future.
