Emirati astronaut to make his first trip into space from Baikonur Cosmodrome
“Kazakhstan and the UAE have traditionally friendly and partnership links that have been given considerable momentum in recent years. We intend to further establish mutually beneficial relations in all sectors, reconcile our stances on pressing issues of the international agenda, co-work on strengthening legal frameworks of the Kazakh-UAE bilateral relations”, the Kazakh Foreign Minister stated.
During the meeting, the Ambassador handed over the Minister UAE President Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s invitation to pay a visit to the UAE addressed to Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The meeting featured the preparation works for the upcoming 7th session of the Kazakh-UAE Intergovernmental Commission co-chaired by the heads of the two countries’ Foreign Ministries, to take place on 8-9 September this year in Abu-Dhabi.
The parties agreed that the Commission is the main mechanism for deepening the bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
Space cooperation leads to wide perspectives as both countries note the significance of the project aimed at creating a rocket complex at Baikonur Cosmodrome by upgrading the launch complex Soyuz at Baikonur site 1 (Gagarin’s Start) and the middle-class launcher Soyuz-2, which is in demand on the launch services world market.
The project’s partners also include Russia, along Kazakhstan and the Emirates.
The Emirati party expressed gratitude to Kazakhstan for the support and cooperation in developing the UAE’s space industry.
The Ambassador also informed that on 25 September this year the first Emirati astronaut Hazzaa AlMansoori is about to make his first trip into space from Baikonur Cosmodrome, and the blast-off is expected to involve Minister of State for Higher Education, Chairman of the United Arab Emirates Space Agency Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi.
