Trade and economic missions – an attempt to boost trade coop of Kazakhstan and Tajikistan
For the Tajik side, the mission serves as an opportunity to negotiate more better procurement prices and terms of delivery, to obtain necessary equipment as well as gain the favour of partners outside of the country.
Despite the countries share no common borders, Kazakhstan has been the second largest foreign trade partner of Tajikistan for over 10 years now with an envision of the real perspective for Kazakhstan to be the main trade partner of Tajikistan.
In 2018, the trade turnover between the States stood at 845 million US dollars. Despite the 12% fall in the first half of 2019, the parties intend to reach 2 billion US dollars in mutual trade.
To that end, a 2018-20 road map was designed, that includes concrete steps focusing on strengthened trade links between business structures of both States.
The Kazakhstan-Tajikistan Direct Investment Fund has been operating since 2007 that serves the same objective.
Kazakh Prime Minister Askar Mamin and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon’s recent meeting that confirmed Kazakhstan’s commitment to the investment cooperation by creating joint investment projects was the expected bridging of Nur-Sultan and Dushanbe.
More than ten of documents for the sum of over 80 million US dollars were concluded in a bid to enhance Kazakh-Tajik collaboration.
So, the 11 July session saw Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan representatives discussed a delivery of 50 JSC vehicles to Tajikistan and the conserves factory PALLANT Trade LLP and the large distribution company Tajero signed a 1 million US dollars valued contract.
The next session was visited by the companies working in the energy sphere that is vital for the Tajik economy.
Tajik agrarians got interested in products of KazFoodPorducts engaged in deep processing of wheat – from starch to biofuel and of Bio-Katu firm that recycles agricultural waste into organic fertilizer.
18 July the firm signed a memorandum of partnership with “Sino Technics Tajikistan,” and “Barakati Istiklol” and “Turgen – eco product” agreed to deliver bee products.
The parties confirmed that the ninth trade and economic mission demonstrated the enhancement of relations between Nur-Sultan and Dushanbe.
Among Kazakh contributors to the trade and economic mission were the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development, Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs and Kazakhstan’s External Trade Chamber.
