50 sessions are planned within the AEF 2019
The main theme of XII Astana Economic Forum - INSPIRING GROWTH: PEOPLE, CITIES, ECONOMICS is divided into 5 key directions: global agenda, regional macroeconomic agenda, cities of the future, technological agenda, human capital - inclusive development of Kazakhstan.
Approximately 50 sessions will be held Within the Forum.
The main events at the site of the XII Astana Economic Forum will be sessions with participation of country’s leader, International Conference in honor of the 100th anniversary of the International Labor Organization (ILO) to study and discuss the report of the global commission on the future of labor, an interim meeting on the preparation of the 12th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO supreme body) in 2020, the press-service of “NC Astana EXPO-2017” JS informed.
Also, these days will be the first Kazakhstan forum on sustainable development goals under the auspices of the UN that make collaborative partnership and exchanges of experience between the Government of Kazakhstan and international experts for learning excellence on achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs). In addition, within the Astana Economic Forum framework there will be a strategic session with the participation of the world intellectual elite and the Government of Kazakhstan under the auspices of the G-Global International Secretariat and also a round table of ministers of finance and heads of central banks of the countries of the Caucasus and Central Asia region, Member States of the Eurasian Economic Union and Mongolia.
Among the important guests who have confirmed their participation to date: Paul Romer, Nobel laureate in economics in 2018, Chief economist at the World Bank (2016-2018), Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Stanley Fisher, US Federal Reserve Deputy Chairman (2014-2017), Rae Kwon Chung, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate 2007, honorary professor at Incheon State University (Republic of Korea), Risto Siilasmaa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Nokia, founder of F-Secure Corporation, German Gref, President and Chairman of the Board of Sberbank of Russia, Armida Alisjahbana Executive Secretary of United Nations, executive secretary Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific (ESCAP).
It should be noted that for 11 years of its operation, the Astana Economic Forum has gained a status of one of the most influential international platforms for discussing the recovery and development of the global economy and financial system. The Forum was attended approximately by 50 000 delegates from 150 countries across the world, among them are over 20 Noble Prize Laureates and 30 top-level foreign politicians. In the framework of the congress, more than 300 memorandums and agreements were signed and totaled over US$ 20 billion. The subject of the AEF is updated annually and covers a wide range of problems and tasks of global development and also sets coordinates for a wide field of discussions.
