S Korea to assist in creation of Rehabilitation Department at Kazakh university
In the course of the meeting, the Ministers discussed a number of issues concerning Kazakhstan-Korean cooperation in the field of healthcare, including using Korean experience in the application of IT technologies, medical insurance, development of medical tourism and education.
“In addition, training and advanced training of medical personnel on the basis of public medical institutions, leading medical centers in the following areas is offered for the development of educational tourism: cardiology, oncology, emergency first aid, reproductive medicine, etc.”, the Ministry of Healthcare of Kazakhstan informed.
Yelzhan Birtanov noted the intensification of bilateral relations in the healthcare sphere, as evidenced by today's signed Plan for the implementation of the Fresh Wind Kazakhstan-Korea Program. Also the two sides signed memoranda of understanding and cooperation:
- in the framework of public-private partnership (PPP);
- between the National Oncology Center of Korea and the National Scientific Oncology Center of Kazakhstan;
- on the creation of a Rehabilitation Department;
- in the field of medical education and science, development of information medical technologies, which reflect the priority areas of interaction between the Ministries.

In turn, Minister of Health and Welfare of Korea, Mr. Park Neung-hu, noted and highly appreciated the transformation of the health sector in Kazakhstan with the use of electronic information technologies and in this direction there are prospects for cooperation between the States.
According to Park Neung-hu, there are a lot in common in the areas of healthcare in Kazakhstan and Korea, such as the development of cancer care and mass screening studies.
At the end of the meeting, Yelzhan Birtanov expressed readiness to consider the proposals of the Korean side for participation in joint investment projects, exchange of experience and advanced technologies in order to modernize the healthcare system of Kazakhstan.
