The event program covered four transformational imperatives: shaping a new economic and social model for the region; environmental stewardship in the Arab world; finding common ground in a multiconceptual world; and the Fourth Industrial Revolution in the Arab world, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan informed.

The forum took place through support of Abdullah II of Jordan, brought together more than a thousand government, business and public leaders to pave new ways for a dialogue and joint actions at times of the profound economic, social and geopolitical transformations in the region and worldwide. It also rallied representatives of large international companies, governments and civil society in a bid to develop cooperation between public and private sectors on crucial issues concerning the region’s future.

Kazakh Foreign Minister, Beibut Atamkulov, held meetings, at which cooperation with both foreign countries and representatives of the international business community came under discussion. The 15-year partnership was the topic of a meeting between the Kazakh Foreign Minister and founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum Klaus Schwab, which highlighted the plans on enhancing collaboration between Kazakhstan and the WEF.

During a meeting with President of the EBRD Sir Suma Chakrabarti, the interlocutors synchronized the watches on the upcoming large-scale events with the Bank’s participation in Kazakhstan, in particular a meeting of the Foreign Investors’ Council under the President of Kazakhstan and the Astana Economic Forum. The interlocutors concurred that the EBRD is a good example of successful cooperation. As of today, there are over 250 projects for over US $8bn total in various sectors of the Kazakh economy involving the Bank.

Having received an audience with Abdullah II of Jordan, Mr Atamkulov informed about the important recent changes in Kazakhstan’s domestic political life, reaffirming the continuity and consistency of the country’s foreign policy in line with the policy of first President of Kazakhstan – Leader of the Nation Nursultan Nazarbayev.

“The meeting marked that the cordial relations between Nursultan Nazarbayev and Abdullah II have tuned into a solid foundation to foster cooperation in various spheres. Agreement to expand the bilateral dialogue in new areas for both countries such as space activities and cybersecurity was reached. The Jordanian side was thanked for backing Kazakh initiatives, particularly in inter-religious dialogue and ethnic and religious tolerance, as well as for Abdullah II’s active participation in the Congresses of leaders of world and traditional religions”, the message reads.

Abdullah II of Jordan expressed gratitude to the first Kazakh President for supporting the initiative to hold Astana talks on Syria, with Jordan participating as an observer country, which significantly reduced the level of violence in the country and bode well for the peaceful process.
