Tokayev and Rogozin discussed cooperation in space activities
The Kazakh President has stressed the importance of collaborating with the Russian Federation in space activities, including the functioning of Baikonur Cosmodrome.
“Yesterday saw the conclusion of my visit to the Russian Federation. In my opinion, it was successful. There were meaningful negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, including those of relevance to the area supervised by you. The relevant projects are submitted for review by both sides”, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
In turn, the head of Russia’s state space corporation Roscosmos has briefed the Kazakh President on successful liftoff of the Progress-MS11 spacecraft to the ISS from Baikonur Cosmodrome.
“A world record was renewed yesterday. The spacecraft or crew used to get the ISS under the two-day scheme (multi rotations). The spacecraft, which blasted off yesterday, rotated two times around the Earth, reaching and docking to the ISS within 3 hours 21 minutes. It takes about 3 hours to fly from Moscow to Baikonur, and now it is the same for a flight from Baikonur to the ISS. We’re working on the shortest scheme”, Dmitry Rogozin said.
The implementation of Kazakhstan and Russia’s joint space project Baiterek also came under discussion during the meeting.
