‘Era of Independence’ by Nursultan Nazarbayev – first Kazakh book ever translated into Portuguese

18 March, 2019 12:25
Depicting the stages of formation and development of Kazakhstan and its role in the international arena, the Book “Era of Independence” written by Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev was on display in the capital of Brazil. The book turned out to be the first Kazakh book ever translated into the Portuguese language. Read more about it in the article below prepared by the Strategy2050.kz website.

The Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kazakh Embassy to Brazil held a presentation of the Book “Era of Independence” propped up by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil. Among attendees were high-ranking officials, including members of Brazil’s National Congress, head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group “Brazil-Kazakhstan” Senator Chico Rodrigues, Senator Cristovam Buarque, Brazilian Deputy Foreign Minister for Communications and Culture Márcia Donner, director at the Brazilian Foreign Ministry’s Department for Russian and Central Asia Ary Quintella, as well as the president at the Centre of Economic and Political Studies “Alexandre de Gusmão Foundation”, the deputy director of Brazil’s Cooperation Agency, representatives of the Brazilian Foreign Ministry, heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Brazil, public figures, representatives of the academic and business community and media.

Deputy Foreign Minister Márcia Donner hoped this book would step up the mutual relations and friendship between the two States.

“As ambassador to Kazakhstan I was lucky to witness the achievements, growth and development of Kazakh society – an outstanding and proud people with wonderful traditions”, she said.

Director at the Brazilian Foreign Ministry’s Department for Russian and Central Asia Ary Quintella said that Kazakhstan had an exceptional position in the international arena.

“The fact that the book is being presented in the Centre of Economic and Political Studies “Alexandre de Gusmão Foundation” under Brazil’s Foreign Ministry demonstrates the Foundation’s commitment to study a broad spectrum of topics in the field of international relations. The book in Portuguese will certainly embrace a wider Brazilian audience and will be particularly popular among the academic community of our country”, he said.

Kazakh ambassador to Brazil Kairat Sarzhanov noted that the Book “Era of Independence” was the first Kazakh book ever translated into the Portuguese language.

“The work of the Head of State sheds light not only on unknown facts about modern history of Kazakhstan but also on the character of our President, his determined, pragmatic and far-sighted policy in building and governing modern statehood”, he said.

According to Senator Chico Rodrigues, the presentation of the Book “Era of Independence” is a sign of friendly relations between Kazakhstan and Brazil.

The Book “Era of Independence” by Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev in Portuguese came out in the broadly known Brazilian publishing house “Nova Alexandria”. It reveals the stages of constructing new Kazakhstan, the internal logic and decision-taking mechanisms to face the internal and external challenges during the first decades of independence, as well as the significance of political will on a case-by-case basis, depicting the scales and depth of the national reforms towards Kazakhstan’s unique and successful model of development.

The book resonated with British society, where it was presented last year. Such events allow to enhance Kazakhstan’s cultural cooperation with the entire world, as well as to bring Kazakhstan closer to the world.
