Mazhilis chairman welcomes Qatari ambassador

Meeting between Mazhilis chairman Nurlan Nigmatulin and Qatari ambassador Ahmad bin Ali Abdurrahman al Jamil al Tamimi took place on Mar.14 in Astana.

In his speech, the Mazhilis chairman stressed the key role of Qatar as the country’s partner in the Middle East, pointing to the Middle Eastern State’s support during the first years of independence and capital Astana’s construction.

Speaking of the importance to further Kazakhstan-Qatar cooperation, the chairman outlined that the official visits of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Qatari Emirs gave special impetus to development of the two countries’ relations.

He also marked the similarity of the States’ strategic goals - Kazakhstan’s plan to join the top 30 countries of the world by 2050 and the programme “Qatar vision-2030”, focusing on deepening humanitarian and economical areas and environmental protection.

As for trade and economic potential, the financial sector, agriculture, transport and logistic and tourist infrastructure were mentioned.

Special attention was given to strengthening of interparliamentary contacts. Mutual meetings between cooperation groups and relevant committees lead to rich exchange of experience in law-making, the Mazhilis chairman said.

According to Nurlan Nigmatulin, the participation of Qatar’s Advisory Council’s leaders in the 4th meeting of speakers of Parliaments of Eurasian countries “Greater Eurasia: Dialogue. Trust. Partnership” scheduled for this September in Astana would underpin development of dialogue between Kazakh and Qatari parliamentarians

In turn, ambassador Ahmad bin Ali Abdurrahman al Jamil al Tamimi expressed warm appreciation for the relations between Kazakhstan and Qatar, the two countries’ leaders. He noted he always has great respect for President Nursultan Nazarbayev, his initiatives, expressing Qatar’s willingness to give full support to Kazakhstan in all areas.
