10 women brought fame to Kazakhstan in 2018

The Kazakh land has given many great people to the whole world. Among them there are a lot of women. Kulyash Baiseitova, Roza Rymbayeva, Aliya Moldagulova, Manshuk Mametova, Olga Shishigina, Margarita Kravtsova and the others at different times made Kazakhstan be well-known and famous. On the eve of the International Women’s Day - the 8th of March - the editorial team of the Strategy2050.kz Information Agency has prepared a top 10 list of women who brought fame to Kazakhstan in 2018.

1. Samal Yeslyamova (Petropavlovsk)

Mrs Yeslyamova is an actress. She has become known for “Ayka” film (directed by Sergei Dvortsevoi), which was chosen for The Official Selection at Cannes Film Festival and left with the Palm D’Or Award for Best Actress. Samal has also featured at “Tulpan” and “Festival international de Cannes”.

2. Firuza Sharipova (Taraz)

Firuza Sharipova is a famous sportswoman, the first world championess in professional boxing from Kazakhstan. On the 8th of September, 2018 she became a WIBA lightweight world champion, having won Russian boxer Yuliya Kutsenko, who had never lost before.

3. Zhansaya Abdumalik (Almaty)

Zhansaya Abdumalik – a young chess player, holding the titles of International Master (IM) and Woman Grandmaster (WGM). The Kazakh chess player leads by Elo rating in classics, rapid and blitz. Prior to this, no Kazakhstani chess player was able to win the world ranking simultaneously in three types of the game. At the moment, Zhansaya takes the 20th placement in the current adult FIDE rating.

4. Dinara Saduakassova (Astana)

Dinara Saduakassova is another Kazakh chess player, an international female grandmaster. In March, 2018 she became the 1st among women in the international tournament “HDBank Cup International Open Chess 2018” (Vietnam) and rose to 17th place in the April ranking of the TOP 100 strongest chess players in the world. In May she entered the top 15 of the world FIDE rating.

5. Mariya Mudryak (Pavlodar)

Mariya Mudryak is a Kazakh opera singer. At the age of 24, our compatriot appeared on the stages of famous world theaters and performed many demanding roles. Mariya has a huge number of international awards, including from Plácido Domingo. In 2018 she debuted on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater in the opera “La Boheme” by G. Puccini.

6. Nazima Dzhanibekova (Shymkent)

Nazima Dzhanibekova is a pop singer. She has become famous not only in Kazakhstan but in the CIS countries after the participation in the Russian TV Show in the beginning of 2018. In the same year Nazima signed to the Black Star label and now she is giving concerts in Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation.

7. Tursynai Kabyl (Kostanai)

Tursynai Kabyl is a world paralympic powerlifting champion. In 2018, she won two gold medals of the Asia and Oceania Championship (Japan), having set a new Asian record.

8. Daneliya Tuleshova (Almaty)

Daneliya is a young singer, winner of the fourth season of “Voice.Children” contest held in Ukraine, finalist and owner of the “New Wave 2015” audience choice award, winner of the “BraVo” music award. In 2018 she represented Kazakhstan at Junior Eurovision, where she took 6th place. At the moment she is participating in the US World’s Best contest where Daneliya enjoys judges' attention.

9. Zarina Diyas (Almaty)

Diyas is a professional tennis player, winner of one WTA singles tournament. In March, 2018 in the 1/32 tournament of the Premier Series in Miami she beat double champion of the Grand Slam Tournaments Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova for the first time. Diyas was ranked well into the Top 100 on the New Year's Day of 2018 (No. 66).

 10. Dinara Kurakbayeva (Taraz)

May be Dinara Kurakbayeva is not so famous and not many people know her. But her achievements in English made Kazakhstan be well-known in at least 19 Central Asian countries. In 2018 she won the Central Asian Spelling Bee contest. The task was to spell a word correctly. The difficulty lied in the fact that many English words are not written the way they are pronounced.
