Funds from the state budget must be allocated strictly for purpose - Nazarbayev
During the meeting, the Head of State was provided with information on the current activities of the Accounts Committee in the sphere of control over the execution of the republican budget and the audit of the state programs, as well as on the ongoing work on methodological support for audit commissions in the regions.
The President of Kazakhstan stressed the key role of the Accounts Committee in ensuring the effectiveness of the development of budgetary funds and preventing their theft.
"The Accounts Committee is an important body that monitors the proper development of public finances and an independent assessment of budget execution. The funds must be allocated strictly to the destination", Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
In her turn, N. Godunova reported on the progress of modernization of the state audit system implemented within the framework of the "100 Steps" National Plan, taking into account world standards.
"At present, the Accounts Committee deviates from the practice of ascertaining the facts of financial irregularities and focuses its activity on evaluating effectiveness. We render assistance to audit facilities in identifying the reasons that have become the basis for financial irregularities and provide appropriate recommendations", the Chairwoman of the Accounts Committee noted.
In addition, N. Godunova informed the Head of State about the work on the audit of the state programs and strategic plans of the state bodies, as well as a preliminary assessment of the republican budget at the stage of its planning.
At the end of the meeting, the President of Kazakhstan gave a number of specific instructions.
