Kazakh Leader met with CTBTO Executive Secretary
The head of state pointed out that today's meeting is taking place on the International Day Against Nuclear Tests, and stressed that the initiative to establish this date belongs to Kazakhstan.
The closing of the world's largest nuclear test site took place on August 29, 1991. After this, the tests in Nevada and other test sites were discontinued. We abandoned the arsenal of nuclear weapons, which allowed us to become one of the leaders of the anti-nuclear movement, " the President announced.
In turn, Lassina Zerbo noted the symbolism of the today’s meeting with Nursultan Nazarbayev and assured the organization he represents will continue to make every effort to counter nuclear tests and preserve peace on earth.
In conclusion, the Head of State expressed his gratitude to Executive Secretary of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization for a constant attention and participation in the anti-nuclear initiatives of Kazakhstan.
