During the talks in a small circle, the sides discussed the issues of bilateral cooperation and prospects for their further development.
Nursultan Nazarbayev emphasized the trusting nature of the relations between two countries and noted the special role of Emomali Rahmon in strengthening the friendship between the peoples of Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.
"Over all these years, thanks to your leadership, we have built up relations of great trust, cooperation and friendship. We never had unresolved problems. We have always supported each other, including on an international scale", the Head of State said.
The President of Kazakhstan noted that at present a new stage of cooperation between two countries is coming and expressed readiness to discuss topical issues of interstate relations.
"We are ready to discuss with you any questions and solve problems. Moreover, the Heads of State of our neighboring countries will come. Tomorrow we will have the opportunity to meet again. I know that this year you will have a conference on water resources management. Kazakhstan supports this initiative", Nursultan Nazarbayev said.
During the meeting, the Head of State awarded the President of Tajikistan the Order of Parasat.
In turn, E. Rahmon thanked the President of Kazakhstan for the invitation and the high award he received.
"With every visit to Kazakhstan, I see how quickly the image of its capital Astana is changing. These achievements, first of all, are the fruits of your wise and far-sighted policy", the President of Tajikistan said.
E. Rahmon stressed the dynamic pace of development of trade and economic relations between two countries, expressing interest in their further development.
"Kazakhstan ranks second among Tajikistan's leading economic partners in terms of trade turnover. We are interested in developing comprehensive and strategic relations between our countries", the President of Tajikistan said.
