UN highly appraises Kazakhstan's work as Chairman in Security Council
According to the high-ranking Chairman of the UN, this month Kazakhstan will play an exclusively important role in the Security Council. The Chairman of the Security Council summons a session, organizes an agenda of the day and delivers a speech on behalf of the Security Council.
Talking about the forthcoming important events in the next week with the participation of President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev on nuclear disarament and trust measures, as well as ministerial debates on Central Asia and Afghanistan, Miroslav Enchev noted that Kazakhstan will make a specific contribution to resolve important issues, which are a threat for the future.
"I think, that Kazakhstan plays its role well as the country that constributed hugely to the strengthening of peace and stability in Central Asia. These are issues of nuclear disarmament and the closure of the Semipalatinsk test site, creation of nuclear weapon free zone in the region. On the innitiative of Kazakhstan, the International Day of Actions against nuclear tests was established. Kazakhstan continues its activity in this direction", said the UN represenative.
M. Enchev underlined that the personal participation of President of Kazakhstan N. Nazarbayev in the thematic briefing of the UN Security Counicl "Non-proliferation of weapons of mass destraction" in the conditions of the growth of intensity and threat of proliferation of nuclear weapons testifies a high significance that Kazakhstan pays to the global issue.
"Voluntarily refused neclear weapons, Kazakhstan and its Leader enjoy a great authority in the issue of non-proliferation of nuclear weapon, and promote the theme of disarmament at the global level. The same steps towards resolving this issue in other regions are of a great interest", added M. Enchev.
He also noted that Kazakhstan is a country on the innitiative of which CICA was established.
The aide of the UN Secreatary-General told about the contribution of Astana in settling the conflict in Syria.
"The contribution of the Astana process to resolving the issue of the conflict in Syria is huge. These are the decrease of intensity, creation of the de-escalation zone. The most important is that these meetings sustain the political process in resolving of this issue that is being held in Geneva under the head of Special Envoy of the UN General Secretary Staffan de Mistura", said Miroslav Enchev.
During an online-briefing, representatives of the UN Department of Public Information also delivered speechs, who told journalists about innovations and specifics of the work of an official website of the Organization and the UN Security Council. They told about the possibilities of broadcasting events of the UN online.
