Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan presented position of UN Security Council on inner-Korean talks
As a result, Permanent Representative of Kazakhstan to the United Nations, Kairat Umarov, gave a briefing for representatives of international media, where he said that the Security Council welcomed the high-level talks between the DPRK and the Republic of Korea on January 9, 2018, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan reported.
Such an initial dialogue between the two States, in the opinion of the members of the Council, opens up opportunities for strengthening confidence in the region and reducing tensions.
At the same time, the Security Council Chairman stressed that "the DPRK and all other Member States must fully and strictly implement all resolutions of the UN Security Council".
In addition, the Permanent Representative of our country in the national capacity voiced the official statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan on this issue, which welcomed the talks between Pyongyang and Seoul and the efforts of the two countries to improve bilateral relations.
Kazakhstan continues to consistently advocate a settlement on the Korean peninsula through dialogue and talks of the situations on the Korean peninsula.
