Share of children in Central Asian countries to reach 30% in 2018
The Central Asian region will continue to increase the number of children. It is expected that in 2018 the share of children in the Central Asian region will reach 30%. Provided that the average growth rate of birth is maintained. Such information was provided by the Kazakhstan Council on International Relations.
At the same time, the highest rates for today are observed in Tajikistan - 34.4% and in Kyrgyzstan - 32%.
"There is an increase in life expectancy, and a decrease in mortality. Thus, in the Central Asian countries the life expectancy exceeded the level of the 90s", Chairman of the Council Yarlan Karin said.
According to him, in Uzbekistan it was 73.8 years, in Tajikistan - 73.7 years, in Kazakhstan - 72.4 years, in Kyrgyzstan - 70.9 years, in Turkmenistan - 70.4 years.
"The elderly population in the region has grown to 4.9%, and the highest rate is observed in Kazakhstan. It is equal to 7.2%", the speaker said.
We note, this year in Kazakhstan and Tajikistan a pilot census is planned. This event is a preparation for the global round of the 2020 population census. In general, the Governments of the Central Asian countries need to take into account economic opportunities and the accompanying social risks caused by a new demographic picture in the region.
