More than 10k small ships removed from state registration in Kazakhstan
By the order of the Head of the Ministry for Investments and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan of July 4, 2017 No.441, amendments were made to the Rules of the state registration of ships. The order touched on the registration of small boats and the rights to them, which came into force on September 26, 2017, the Ministry informed.
According to the provisions of the document, non-self-propelled small-sized ships weighing up to 200 kg inclusive, as well as sports sailing ships, whose length does not exceed 9 meters, which do not have engines and resting places registered before January 1, 2014, are to be excluded from the ship's book without the owner's application. This norm was valid until January 1, 2018.
The Transport Control Inspectorate of the Transport Committee of the Ministry for Investments and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan carried out work to notify the shipowners through the media about the exclusion of ships from state registration. On the whole, 10,790 small ships were withdrawn from the state registration. To date, there have been registered 19 096 small ships (2422 non-self-propelled, 16688 self-propelled).
