Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan became Head of Permanent Council of CSTO

In Moscow, a meeting of the Permanent Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization was held, in which CSTO Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov, the CSTO Deputy Secretaries General, the staff of the CSTO Secretariat and the Joint Staff participated.

As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan informed, after the chairmanship in the Organization in 2017-2018 passed from Belarus to Kazakhstan, in accordance with the rotation principle, Plenipotentiary Representative of Kazakhstan to the CSTO Zhanibek Imanaliyev was elected Chairman of the CSTO Permanent Council.

Permanent and plenipotentiary representative of Belarus to the Collective Security Treaty Organization, Ambassador of Belarus to Russia Igor Petrishenko passed a hammer to his Kazakhstani counterpart, whose "blow" symbolizes the adoption of decisions of the CSTO Permanent Council.

The plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan thanked the counterparts for supporting the priority approaches proposed by President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev to the CSTO for the coming year and expressed hope for mutually beneficial cooperation in the joint work on their implementation.

"The Permanent Council is the working body of the CSTO, which deals with the coordination of the interaction of the Member States in the implementation of decisions taken by the highest bodies of the Organization, it includes Permanent and Plenipotentiary Representatives appointed by Member States", the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted.

The partners of Kazakhstan on the Collective Security Treaty Organization are Armenia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.
