Modernization of Shymkent refinery to be completed by September 2018
The purpose of the project is to restore the designed capacity to 6 million tons of oil per year.
According to the Minister of Energy, the project cost was 2,094.3 million dollars. Its implementation is carried out in 2 stages. Installations for hydrotreatment of diesel fuel, sulfur production, and also isomerization have already been completed.
"Within the framework of the 2nd stage, the working documentation was developed, as well as placing orders for equipment and materials. The equipment is delivered on 90%. The construction and installation works are carried out", the speaker said.
According to Kanat Bozumbayev, the mechanical completion of the objects of the off-site utilities is planned for December 31, 2017. Mechanical completion of process units - on March 15 next year.
It should be noted that in addition to modernization and reconstruction of the Shymkent oil refinery, the same works are carried out for the Atyrau and Pavlodar refineries. The result of the modernization will be an increase in the oil refining capacity, an increase in the processing depth and yield of light petroleum products, and an increase in the quality of oil products to the level of Euro-4 and Euro-5.
