59 NGOs received prizes of 4.5mln tenge

At the Kazakh National University of Arts Shabyt, a solemn ceremony of awarding prizes to non-governmental organizations was held. Prizes were awarded to 59 NGOs for their contribution to solving social problems at the national, sectoral and regional levels. The size of each prize is 4.5 million tenge.

As the organizers of the event informed, the expert group considered 216 applications. In 15 directions, 59 winners were identified. The largest number of applications was received in the following areas: support of socially vulnerable layers of the population, support of youth policy and children's initiatives, protection of rights, legitimate interests of citizens and organization, strengthening of public consent and national unity.

Representatives of NGOs noted that the holding of the competition is an important step towards the development of civil society in Kazakhstan and demonstrates the real support of the state towards NGOs.

"For more than 15 years we have consistently worked on issues of health protection, family planning, reproductive health of people with disabilities and this is the first significant award in this field", Deputy Chairman of the Association of Women with Disabilities "Shyrak" Zakhira Begalieva shared.

Director of the social corporate fund "ZUBR" Vitaly Kulik said that this prize adds responsibility.

"We are pleased to realize that today awards are presented to professionals who serve a great goal and sincerely believe that they help people. The award is not only an honor, but also a responsibility. Now the NGO will maintain its work, Kazakhstanis - should be more initiative, the state bodies should see and use the potential of NGOs",  director of the social corporate fund "ZUBR" Vitaly Kulik said.
