Kazakhstan and Russia signed agreement on coop in nuclear-energy sector
According to the Ministry of energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the sides also signed the Protocol to the Agreement between the Governments of the two countries on cooperation and mutual settlements in the disposal of nuclear weapons of January 20, 1995, approved by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In addition, a bilateral meeting with representatives of the European Atomic Energy Community was held. At a high level, issues were discussed on the main areas of cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy, in particular, on nuclear safety, development of nuclear technologies and scientific and technical cooperation.
We remind that the main annual forum in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy - the 61st session of the IAEA General Conference is held in September 18-22 in the Austrian capital. The national delegations of the IAEA member-states participate in the work of the Conference.
The annual sessions of the IAEA General Conference are traditionally attended by the delegation of Kazakhstan headed by Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kanat Bozumbayev who delivered the presentation on Kazakhstan's contribution to the development and strengthening of cooperation in the peaceful use of atomic energy.
During the General Conference, bilateral meetings of K. Bozumbayev with US Secretary of Energy Rick Perry and Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Igor Nasalik were held, during which the sides exchanged views on key issues in the development of nuclear energy.
In addition, RSE "National Nuclear Center of RK" and JSC "NAC "Kazatomprom" organized an exhibition / side event on the sidelines of the conference dedicated to the achievements of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the nuclear power industry.
The agenda for the event in Vienna is to discuss global issues related to the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, meeting future energy demand, ensuring nuclear safety, nuclear energy and technical cooperation, as well as other important issues of agency's activities.
