Mayor of Almaty Bauyrzhan Baibek met with Ambassador of Singapore to Kazakhstan Mr. Zulkifli Baharudin, Mayor’s Office reported.

The sides discussed the issues of strengthening of trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian relations.

The Mayor of the city noted that Almaty is interested in Singapore’s experience on attracting investments, development of the financial services sector and the tourism cluster.

According to the information, the Ambassador of Singapore was presented the potential of the industrial zone in Alatau district and SEZ "Park of innovative technologies", as well as the cooperation prospects for implementation of the program on the development of the city "Almaty-2020".

"This is not my first visit to Almaty, and I see that the city is continually evolving. I think that a lot of interest for Singapore companies is to work on the projects implemented within "Smart city" because we have good experience in this direction", Z. Baharudin told.

The Ambassador of Singapore suggested to organize a delegation of businessmen to come to Kazakhstan in order to discuss specific projects.

We note that in 2016 the trade turnover between Almaty and Singapore amounted to 21.4 million dollars. As of February 2017 the city has registered 58 joint ventures and 23 enterprises of Singapore.
