Kazakhstan plans to reach 40th place in World Bank's Logistics Performance Index by 2020
"The ministry jointly with the World Bank is working over the development of an action plan, the implementation of which will enable Kazakhstan to reach the 40th place in the rankings by 2020," Zhumagaliyev noted.
The minister reminded that upon the results of 2012 Kazakhstan occupies 86th place in the ranking of the World Bank. He noted that to improve Kazakhstan's position on this indicator it is necessary to conduct a comprehensive work on improving the quality of transport infrastructure, as well as to remove existing physical and non-physical barriers.
According to Zhumagaliyev, one of the objectives of the program is the effective use and development of transport infrastructure, which is closely associated with the level of development of the logistics system.
In general, according to the Transport and Communications Ministry of Kazakhstan, the implementation of the program will increase transit transportations twofold by 2020, ensure the integration of transport infrastructure in the international transport system, as well as develop local transport infrastructure in the regions.
