President of EAEU Business Council named Viktor Khristenko

Astana has hosted a meeting of the presidium of the Business Council of the Eurasian Economic Union with the participation of heads of the leading business associations. As part of the event, Viktor Khristenko was appointed president of the Business Council of the EAEU.

As Chairman of the Board of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan "Atameken" Ablai Myrzahmetov said, in order to improve the work of the Business Council it was decided to introduce the post of president of the Business Council.

"One of the main qualities president should have is understanding of the integration process, and Viktor Khristenko fits best. This decision allows the business community to intensify the dialogue with countries - members of the Union", - said A.Myrzahmetov.

Viktor Khristenko has been appointed for four years. Over the next month, the new president is to present a plan for further development.

The Agreement on the establishment of the Business Council extends the areas of cooperation and determines the scope of the president’s competencies.

In addition, the Business Council has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Business Council of EAEU. It provides the cooperation of Business Council with the Commission, including the participation of business in the regulatory Union framework, holding various forums for the business community with the participation of business communities of states - members of the union.
