Prime Minister Akhmetov attends Expert-200-Kazakhstan Forum

Kazakh Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov has attended and spoke at the V economic forum of big business "Expert-200-Kazakhstan" in Astana today.

Emphasizing the importance of the forum as a "traditional platform for discussion of issues of entrepreneurship", the Prime Minister focused on the execution of the President’s instructions in the implementation of economic policy and focused on measures to strengthen macroeconomic stability.

"In 2013, the economy is expected to grow by about 6%, inflation is also expected at the level of 6%," Akhmetov noted. "These conditions make it possible to supplement the budget, finance the development of the sectors of the economy, support the business," he added.

Noting the good pace of agricultural development "laying the foundation for the development of crop production, livestock and other sectors of the agro-industrial complex," the Prime Minister said that Kazakhstan created a new industry – transport machine building. Presently, 150 passenger cars are produced. Next year it is planned to open a plant for the production of diesel locomotives."

Other promising sectors of the economy are oil and gas, mining sector. In their framework it is planned to form petrochemical, agrochemical, food processing clusters. The last line is one of the priorities of the Government.

Concerning the issues of competitiveness of Kazakh products in Customs Union and Single Economic Space and within the framework of the forthcoming accession to the WTO, Serik Akhmetov stressed the need for technology transfer, creation of new industries, development of transport infrastructure.

Strengthening of investment attractiveness is still an important area. "There should be clear transparent rules of the game for a business that wants to come here to see these rules," Akhmetov said.

The Prime Minister emphasized the role of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs, which "has to breathe the same air with the business, to protect and represent the interests of business."

According to Akhmetov, the most effective programs that "really support the development of SMEs" are the state program called "Business Road Map 2020", "Employment Road Map 2020".
