Head of State: Civil control is most reliable barrier against corruption

Civil control is the most reliable barrier against corruption, waste and negligent officials, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has said at the XXIV session of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan in Astana.

"We are expanding the opportunities for Kazakhstanis in the discussion, adoption and execution of the decisions of the public authorities. Community councils have been created and work for them, where the representatives of the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan are actively involved, along with the NGOs. Civil control is the most reliable barrier against corruption, waste and negligent officials. We are not going to turn off this path, but it is a moment of truth for the civil society and its participation in the work of the public councils should be based on the principles and initiatives of maturity, responsibility to the citizens", the Leader of the nation has said.

N. Nazarbayev has added that further reforming of the local government, which will be endowed with an independent budget and the new features, will be. The Head of State has added that the Assembly and all of its grass-roots units should actively work closely with Governor’s Offices.
