Kazakhstan-Afghanistan trade turnover amounts to about $ 300 mln

Kazakhstan exported goods worth about $ 300 million to Afghanistan, while imported $ 2-3 million. This was announced by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Omirtay Bitimov at the press conference dedicated to the relations of Kazakhstan and Afghanistan, initiated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

"Afghanistan is of great economic interest, as the population is about 30 million people. It is a large market. Our goods are in demand there: flour products, flour, metals and other products. As for transit, Afghanistan is very important - the way to the Indian Ocean lies through Afghanistan, we have direct economic interests", - the ambassador said.

According to O. Bitimov, many local companies are interested in cooperation with Afghanistan.

"The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Afghanistan is around $ 300 million, while import is about $ 2-3 million", - he said.

It is worth noting that Afghanistan's GDP is $ 62.3 billion in 2015. According to the World Bank estimates, GDP growth was 1.5% in 2015. GDP share in sectors: agriculture - 31%, industry - 26%, trade and services - 43%.
