EKR akimat and EBRD signed agrt for kzt 7.7 bln

Akim of East Kazakhstan region Danial Akhmetov and Director of the EBRD Janet Hackman signed an agreement on the financing of two projects worth 7.7 billion tenge: "Replacement of street lighting in Ust-Kamenogorsk on energy-saving" worth 4.9 billion tenge and "Replacement of street lighting in Semey energy saving" worth 2.8 billion tenge.
Existing street lighting in Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semey is not energy efficient. In this connection, regional akimat jointly with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development launched the modernization of street lighting and the introduction of automatic control systems. Implementation of these projects will reduce costs up to 60%, 40.7 million in Ust-Kamenogorsk, and 30.8 million tenge in Semey per year.
"We are working to implement the order of the President on implementation of energy efficiency. We have a large number of projects. All of them are connected with the development of infrastructure. It is necessary to solve a problem - the construction of a bridge across the Bukhtarma, which will give impetus to East Kazakhstan region, which has a high geological potential. I am convinced that the development of the infrastructure will be launched in the near future”, - Mr.Akhmetov said.
